REPAIR SERVICE NETWORK
For all windscreen repairs, anywhere
in New Zealand, please phone 0800 85 88 88
The Repair Process
The majority of windscreens fitted to motor vehicles today are
manufactured from laminated glass. The construction is a sandwich
made up of two layers of glass with a inner layer of PVB plastic.
The average overall thickness of the windscreen is 6mm. The cross
section of a piece of laminated glass with a typical bullseye
break is shown below.
The process involves injecting, under controlled vacuum and pressure,
a glass bonding UV curing resin into the crack or stone chip on
the windscreen. Once all the air has been removed from the break
the area is exposed to UV light which cures the resin. The process
restores the clarity and strength of the original glass. The surface
temperature of the glass is measured to make sure it falls between
acceptable limits. The nature of the damage and surface temperature
of the glass will determine the viscosity of the resin to be used.
In New Zealand and Australia the repair process must comply with
AS/NZS 2366 1999.
The Repair Network
The
Company is in the process of establishing a network of Franchised
regions throughout New Zealand. Currently two regions are in operation
i.e Otago and Auckland. The regional boundaries are roughly equivalent
to the boundaries of the Yellow Pages Directories. RESIN WELD
uses a single 0800 85 88 88 Telecom phone number for the
whole of New Zealand.
When service is required whether in Otago or Auckland the customer
will call 0800 85 88 88 the call being terminated on the
respective Franchisee's telephone number.
The Auckland area has been in operation since the Company was
formed in 1988 and is also the Head Office location. Head Office
will respond to all calls outside the assigned regions whether
from a mobile phone or landline number. Once again all the customer
needs to do is call the 0800 85 88 88 national number.
As the network is progressively developed the web site will be
updated accordingly.
